Introduction

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has nine community-based field sites across Pakistan (including five in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international levels.

The Fetal Doppler project focuses on antenatal risk stratification. The study will be conducted on 6000 pregnant women. The main aim of the study is to identify pregnant women at risk of adverse perinatal outcomes, i.e., perinatal mortality and Small for gestational age children. 

 

This is a short-term contractual position to be based in Rehri Goth, a peri-urban field site of Karachi.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

  • ·         Conduct door to door survey 
  • ·         Complete household-related questionnaire by following project guidelines on tablets 
  • ·         Deal with refusals and follow-up with non-respondents on daily basis 
  • ·         Identify eligible children for the study and schedule their appointments at the clinic
  • ·         Any other tasks assigned by research supervisors.

Requirements

You should have:

  • ·         Minimum Matriculation. Intermediate will be preferred 
  • ·         At least one year experience in hospital/ research facility, additional experience in public dealing will be preferred 
  • ·         Basic knowledge regarding nursing 
  • ·         The ability to speak and understand English and Urdu
  • ·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ·         The ability to give oral instructions/information to patients and parents in colloquial English and/or Urdu
  • ·         The ability to learn quickly and follow instructions 
  • ·         Basic MS office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
